Spin-off of EKZ-Eltop
The power stations of the Canton of Zurich supply electricity to around one million people. This makes the company one of the largest Swiss energy suppliers.
To migrate also the history of not completed SD and CS orders - that was the special challenge for the experts of GAMBIT Consulting.
For migration, the IT experts rely on the GAMBIT Migration Cockpit and the SAP tool SAP Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) - thus, the selective transfer of the history could be guaranteed.
In the end, the customer was delighted with the scheduled commissioning of the new "EKZ Eltop" company code - and the new public limited company could devote all its energy to its future.
For EKZ (Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich) it was clear: If the subsidiary EKZ Eltop is legally independent and autonomous, it will be economically more successful. Those responsible therefore planned to convert EKZ Eltop into a public limited company - and thus to spin off from the company.
Even to migrate SD and CS orders which had not been completed into a newly founded stock corporation - that was the special challenge for the experts of GAMBIT during a carve-out in Switzerland.

SAP migration even of unfinished jobs
The special challenge of this project for the SAP experts of GAMBIT was that they had to migrate the history of all SD and CS orders which were not completed. In simple words: It did not stop at a supposedly simple asset deal where only the relevant master data and open transactions were to be transferred on a cut-off date basis. Instead, the customer wanted the complete transfer of the entire order backlog to the new company. This meant that the GAMBIT project team - in addition to the transfer of master data - had to transfer all transaction data of all SD and CS orders not yet completed (Sales & Distribution and Customer Service) in the modules SD, MM, FI and CO. Therefore, it was also necessary to generate partial and final invoices from the migration in order to bring the billing plans to a correct status. In addition, the GAMBIT team had to charge off all transaction data of SD and CS orders not yet completed from the old company code.
In order to successfully implement the project, the experts of GAMBIT use the GAMBIT Migration Suite and the SAP tool SAP Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW). After several tests the go-live finally took place on two weekends: first the migration of the master data and the migration of the SD orders without billing documents, then the migration of, among others, billing documents, purchase orders and FI documents. With success: The new company code "EKZ Eltop AG" was put into operation on schedule.
